Bmw X5 Drivers Door Will Not Open Outside

Hey guys, So this morning my wife went out to the car.It is cold here in Jersey this morning about 25 degrees. The drivers door wount open from the outside or inside. From the outside when the handle is being pulled it seems as there is no detent.Normal the outside handle stops when there tension on the cable and then pops the door.None of that is present.

I cannot open the drivers side rear door with either the outside door handle or inside door handle on our 2001 bmw X5 3.0i with 90k miles. Can I remove the inside door panel with the door closed I have taken these off before but always with the door open. Any way around this LinkYou have to remove the end of the seat back. Whilst sat on the back seat put your hands onto the top of the side seat back trim you can slightly lift it forward with ease.

Now whilst keeping your finger underneath the seat back trim move your fingers towards the window and down the outside of the seat back trim until your level with the top of the door panel trim. Now get a good grip on the seat trimI am having the same problem but my problem started with the window in the front passenger door being stuck in the door frame cant get it to come up something inside the door frame is blocking the window from coming up. You have to remove the door panel to free the darn glass. Bmw has the most horrible power window system than any car i have owned. Download blank the four steps to the epiphany pdf free. I have replaced my drivers side window so many timesQuote Originally Posted by jones40 One more thing I have the same problem CANT OPEN THE door 1. All the gee whiz slam bang electronics are great but there has to be some way to get in or out of a car when those neato things go south. Actually this problem only existed. After good rains or a carwash if I open either of the rear doors on my X5 about a 12 cup of water spills out and more is sitting on the sill. The water is often there even if the first time I open the doors after a rain or carwash is a day or more later. This cant be good for long term integrity of the metal parts of the doorsill.

Is this commonnormal Shouldnt there be a way for the water to drain off the sillWOW. I made the same post and observation last month after a hard rain and not using the X5 for a week.

Same issue with rear passenger door. Ran it by the dealer and they said it was normal.

Folks on this forum thought sun roof drain clog or vapor liner (plastic sheeting between door card and actually steel door came unglued. I keep watching and posted photos of the weather stripping being soaked like a sea sponge. No really solutions yet. Can anyone be kind enough to take a few detailed pics of the add-on window shades Im not referring to the shades that come from the factory but the ones that are similar to the rear-hatch add-ons Im trying to get a set and would first like to see how the actual product looks beforehand. The ones Im looking for are mount and un-mount types. I was hoping to see if someone has them and how they look and fit on the window. I just ordered mine a couple days ago I can post pics one I get them and install them.httpwww.trademotion.compartlocat.egoryID112995 The 21st item down I ordered the rear window & 3rd row side window kit I got mine from the dealer I got my X5 from.

I paid 244.37 with tax and shipping. The panel at the very top of the door where it meets the glass has come loose (circled in red pic 1).

It can be pulled a bit out toward the interior of the vehicle (pic 2). The other rear door panel doesnt pull away from the glass at all so Im wondering how I can latchpop it back in.

Ive tried both and its not obvious. If someone can tell me how to pull it out so I can look at it that would work too.Removal and installation of cladding left or right rear doorThe clips release by pulling hard as mentioned. Might need to insert a plastic spatula in between door and panel to get them started. The top clips which are loose in your car snap in downward if I recall correctly.

Start with those first and then snap the plastic ones in with a good punch with the palm of your hand.Quote Originally Posted by tony(topazSMG) The clips release by pulling hard as mentioned. I am trying to avoid pulling the entire thing out first since it reads like some of the other clips need to. Hey guys im new to this forum and was hoping I could get some information on what can be done about a door dent and what it might cost.

It seems someone must have hit there door (pretty hard) door on mine while it was parked. Also paint is chipped at the area of the dent.

A picture is in the attachment. Any help will be appreciated. Strip the trim off both doors Repair dent primer Color coat blending into rear door Colorsand to remove orangepeel Clearcoat both panels Sorry to see this.pretty bad ding.Sorry man thats a real bummer. What an ass opening a door REAL hard on you beauty like that. That was intentional for sure.

People suck A good body shop can fix and paint you will never be able to tell. 2013 F30 EBII 328i XDrive M Sport M performance Brake KitIm confused. The guy is saying the paint is chipped yet people are saying paintless dent repair will be perfect. WTF I mean never mind that the dent has crushed the formed edge on the door and will never work.

Lets set that aside. How will paintless dent repair fix his chipped paintArd is right. I had a tree branch fall on my trunk corner panel on the crease. Really odd accident that happened on windy day. The body shop did a great job matching and feathering paint in a very difficult spot to repair.

Dent Doctor isnt able to pound one out like your photo from outside or inside the door panel. On my e53 my rear doors dont unlock anymore with key. To unlock those doors i have to start my car and unlock with central lock unlock button. Any ideas Sent from BimmerApp mobile appfyi at that time it doesnt even open from inside with door lock. When i pull the door opener unlock knob doesnt popup. Sent from BimmerApp mobile appCentral lock system button in center console sounds like its broken. Mine in 0 degree days locks up n will not work.

If a plastic rod clip is broken and not disconnected, I might add that many parts houses sell packages of clips cheap in the self help racks. Maybe something there will match up and I’m assumng a BMW dealer is not close by.Another option for a broken clip is to use a spring steel carburetor linkage clip; also available in the self help stuff. While I don’t know if you’re guilty of this or not, many times those clips are broken or dislodged because the door handle is yanked firmly while opening a door instead of using a slower, less forceful movement. The guys have it pretty well solved out and since youre about to open up the door panel you already know the things that can go wrong inside the door. HOWEVERin a BMW SpecificallyIf it was ME I would do the following. Yes, I’ve owned and repaired MANY BMW’sTake your key Jeez if it still does have a key and use it in the offending door to lock/unlock the door from the outside. ALSOusing the keyIF it has one in the rear trunk/door to activate the usual BMW Lock/Unlock ALL doors featureLOLIF BMW still has that on the X5.I just wanted you to do this to weed out a lock rod issue in the door as BMW has slightly different locks than most cars with how they lock and unlock and even deadbolt themselves. If all these tests are possibledo themotherwiseyou knew you were going to go into the door panel anyway looking for damage or a broken clip holding a lock rod of some sort.Blackbird.
